Renfrew/Regal Terrace is a residential community located in the NW quadrant. It is located south of the Trans Canada highway(#1). It is a well established area north of the inner city community of Bridgeland.. It is bordered on the east by Nose Hill Creek & Deerfoot Trail. It is separated from Crescent Heights to the west by Edmonton Trail.
Located in Ward 9, it is served by The City in Ward 9. There are no major commercial or industrial facilities. Some small businesses along Edmonton Trail & 16 Ave. are close by. There is no emergency health care facility in the district though there are several physician’s offices in the area. Alberta Alcoholism & Drug Abuse has a treatment facility in the area. In 2014 Renfrew/Regal Terrace was listed as #22 in Avenue Magazine on the top 50 Best Neighbourhoods list.
The Ukrainian Community is well represented. There is the Ukrainian Pioneer Park + two Ukrainian Churches one Catholic and one Orthodox. As a testimony to early settlers, a monument to victims of genocide in the Ukraine has been built on the Bow River banks. Established in 1940, the community was used as a Royal Canadian Air Force Training Base. The population is approximately 6000 people.
There is a full sized football field & Renfrew Athletc Park. Other facilities include the Boys & Girls Club, a swimming pool, both an indoor & outdoor rink, & soccer fields. There are some fast food outlets well established such as Mr. Sub & KFC. There is lots of casual
dining opportunity too. The community is easily accessible by transit, bike, car & foot…an interesting fun area to explore.
